Type to Learn Software

Type to Learn software is a program designed to teach keyboarding skills. Students play various games to learn where the keys are and which fingers they should use to tap them. The program also has assessments to see where students strengths and weaknesses are. Accuracy, as well as speed, is stressed in this program. I remember being in middle school and having my first keyboarding class. We had a similar program that we worked through to learn, practice, and master the correct way to type on a keyboard. I truly believe that this program was what took my typing skills to the next level (I would say I am a very good typist).

    I love this AT resource and think it is sometimes forgotten. I remember when I was in school I had to learn typing, not with a software this fun, but I still had to learn. Typing is such an important life skill that students need to know to be successful in their lives since computer technology is such a huge part of our world today. A lot of my students do not have this skill and cannot set up a correct paper format in microsoft word which they will need to know how to do in their future education and careers.
